Jason Oberstein is a versatile electric and acoustic guitarist of 15 years specializing in jam improvisation. Known for his energetic, Garcia-inspired lead work, he’s been lighting up the Boston music scene in a variety of acts including Jill McCracken and Flying Turtle. Jason is a lover of local music, a walking dictionary of music theory, and a truly open-minded creative.

In 2024, Jason began to embrace a quieter, more thoughtful side of his musical soul through his solo singer-songwriter work, culminating in his debut solo record, Northern Rails. He’s now working up a new minimalistic solo sound, pursuing sonic beauty through just his voice, an acoustic guitar, and a looper pedal. With every project, Jason dives in head-first and strives to be one of the best guitarists Boston has to offer.
